About Crystal Lake, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The city of Crystal Lake is located in McHenry County, Illinois, approximately fifty miles northwest of the city of Chicago. Established in the 1800s and incorporated in 1874, the city traces it origins back to the early communities of Nunda and Crystal Ville, which were consolidated in 1914 to form the city of Crystal Lake. Today, Crystal Lake is home to a population of more than 42,000 people who enjoy the pleasant seasonal temperatures produced by the city’s transitional climate zone that bring long, hot summers and mild, cool winters to the area.

Crystal Lake’s history is showcased through several historic buildings located in the city’s downtown district. The historic Dole Mansion is the centerpiece of the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park (the city’s arts educational center) and is considered an architectural masterpiece of the Civil War era. The mansion was the home of Charles Sidney Dole, a successful businessman and early member of the Chicago Board of Trade who built a successful grain business in the area with his brother. The Colonel Palmer House, circa 1858, which was originally the home of “Colonel” Simons Gustavus A. Palmer and his wife Henrietta, currently serves as home to the Crystal Lake Historic Society.

Local attractions include the Raue Center for the Arts, a 1920s 750-seat theater that has featured some of Broadway’s finest artists and musicians.  The theater is listed with the League of Historic American Theatres and is one of the finest examples of restored theater art and decor in the nation. The Small Wonders Micro/Mini Car Museum is an interesting local attraction that features dozens of the smallest cars in the world and a reference library on the subject of micro-cars.

Crystal Lake is home to the America’s Cardboard Cup Regatta, an annual event that features fun for the entire family – whether you elect to participate or sit on the sidelines and watch! Cardboard boat races are held in a variety of categories related to age and method of propulsion, with boats constructed of cardboard by the participants.

The friendly citizens, strong civic leadership, and dedicated service organizations of the city make Crystal Lake a great place to live, visit, and enjoy!
